This exercise might be quite useful to learn the propeller. Start with doing the idle. After an hit with the right handstick let the devilstick roll over the left handstick. Follow with your right arm crossing the left one. At that moment when the devil is vertical the right handstick touches the devilstick a bit below the center and hits it upwards. This contact is really short. If the devilstick reaches the horizontal position stop forcing it. Then continue doing the idle.

The motion of your right hand is just what you need for doing the propeller.
